Joe Leone, Attorney, DeWitt LLP Law Firm, Madison Office.

Joe is Chair of the Intellectual Property practice group. Clients around the world turn to Joe to secure and enforce their intellectual property rights. This includes securing patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, as well as asserting and defending these rights in the state and federal courts. Joe is frequently engaged in opinion work, drafting freedom-to-operate opinions for U.S. manufacturers and foreign companies importing goods into the U.S. He serves as an expert witness in state and federal actions regarding Patent & Trademark Office practices and procedures. Additionally, he regularly represents both applicants and opposers in actions before the Trademark Trial & Appeal Board.

 

 

 

Joe Miotke, Attorney, DeWitt LLP Law Firm, Milwaukee Office.

Joe is the Co-Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice group. For more than twenty years Joe has distinguished himself as a leading intellectual property (“IP”) litigator, patent attorney, and IP strategist.  Recognized by leading IP publications as among the top patent attorneys and IP attorneys in the United States, he has worked across a wide spectrum of patent, trade secret, copyright, and trademark matters involving technologies ranging from artificial intelligence and machine learning to energy production and hydraulic fracturing.  Joe speaks across North America and publishes frequently on IP-related matters. He served as President of the Wisconsin Intellectual Property Law Association, which is among the oldest IP professional groups in the United States. Joe is the National Chair of IP Basic Education for LES and recently overhauled the LES course on IP Licensing & Basics.

 

 

Beth Fischer, Director of IP, Life Sciences, Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF).

Beth manages intellectual property in the fields of biochemistry, biotechnology, drug discovery, genomics and proteomics, genetic engineering, health and nutrition, metabolic pathways, pharmaceuticals, plant sciences and transgenic crops and animals. Beth also manages the WARF Ambassador Program. She holds a B.A. Chemistry from Ripon College and PhD in Biochemistry from UW–Madison.
